The US envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, and the Turkish ambassador, Kenan Yilmaz, discussed support for the UN-led political process to pave the way for holding elections in Libya, the US embassy in Libya said on X platform.

Norland said that he had a very useful meeting with ambassador Yilmaz, and discussed their desire to see progress on the security and economic tracks in Libya, congratulating Libya and Turkey on the resumption of Turkish Airlines' flights between the two sides - a sign of stability in Libya.

The meeting came as part of of a series of meetings held by Norland in the past few days with a number of Libyan parties, following the resignation of the UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily.

During the past two days, Norland met with the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, Deputy Heads Mossa Al-Koni and Abdullah Al-Lafi, the acting Foreign Minister Al-Taher Al-Baour, the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, and the Council of Elders and Notables of the city of Misrata.
